I was unable to catch any games in Hernando this weekend. I heard some great games went on down there though. Who won what division? Who played great and who just couldn’t put it all together? Who had a hard time?
I tell my teams this every game. The team that wants it the most is going to win. So tell me sports fans. Who wanted it more on the ball fields this past weekend?

I don’t know about in Hernando, but the Hernando Heat 6U softball all stars won their state tournament in Senatobia. They had to win 4 games in one day out of the losers bracket to do it. I’m sure Southaven’s 8U softball won the North half in Hernando and almost certain Neshoba won the South.
Well, the Southaven Sluggers (Southaven’s 7 year old All Star team formally the 6U Southaven Storm and then the competitive team which goes by Southaven Storm) did NOT win the state tourney this year. They have a good group of girls but they can’t hang with Pontotoc’s mass of heavy hitters. As to the State Tourney in Hernando in the 8U division–1st Place: Pontotoc 8 year olds
2nd Place: Corinth
3rd Place: Batesville
5th Place: Hernando 8 year olds
6th Place: Southaven 7 year olds
11th Place: Hernando 7/8 year olds
I heard that the Neshoba Elite dominated the South tourney. This should come of no surprise to anyone who has watched this team play for the past year. They dominate in Dizzy Dean and do very well in the USFA saga too. It is still questionable to me how they are able to keep that group together year round and play in the Dizzy Dean World Series but that is one of the perks of not playing under the commisioners nose I suppose. My niece plays for a competitive 8U team from Desoto County called the DC Rage and they have been playing that team since last fall so yes, I know what I am talking about when I make the statement that they have been together. The same for the Southaven Sluggers aka Southaven Storm. Same players, same coaches, different uniforms.
I was glad to see that Hernando split their group into 2 sections this year. Maybe the 7 year old coach will pick him up a few more 7′s, form a fall ball team, and keep his group together. If so- watch out next year. There is a lot of hitting power on that little team already!
Does anyone know what has happened to the Senatobia 6U All Star team? Why did they decide to go no further than State? Why buy a uniform and what about trading pins? Poor little girls–everyone little All Star girl should get to trade pins!
Good Luck to all Desoto County teams!!!!!!
